Ubisoft has just announced that it will be bringing the Prince of Persia remastered trilogy and a Splinter Cell one to North American PlayStation 3 owners, not on a single Blu-ray disc, like in Europe, but as a digital download, on the PlayStation Network.

As most Prince of Persia fans know by now, Ubisoft has just remastered the original Sands of Time trilogy in high definition, and is getting to release the three games that appeared for the PlayStation 2 on a single Blu-ray disc in Europe.

Back when the announcement that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones will be appearing on the PlayStation 3, no details about any North American release were revealed.

Now, during a recent investor's call, Ubisoft did let slip that the three games will be appearing in that territory, remastered in high definition.

Sadly, the titles will be only be released separately on the PlayStation Network online service, as digital downloads, and not on a retail disc, like in Europe.

A release date hasn't been revealed, but you can expect them to appear sometime between now and the end of the year, seeing as how they will be released in the Old Continent on November 19.

Pricing was also left a mystery, but seeing as how the three titles will be released in Europe for £29.99 (around $50), expect them to cost around $15 a piece.

Besides the Prince of Persia trilogy, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot also mentioned that a Splinter Cell trilogy will also appear as digital downloads on the PSN, despite the fact that such a trilogy hasn't been revealed for Europe, as of yet.

Hopefully, the French company will be able to get its trilogies straight and release some concrete details for all the world's territories.
