The Prince of Persia franchise is probably one of the most popular and long-lasting series of video games out there. The titles have entertained players from the first PCs to the modern consoles of today, unveiling new and intricate stories for them to unravel and in which to really identify with the reactions of the Middle-Eastern Prince.

The latest iteration in the series, which is now developed and published by Ubisoft, Prince of Persia, is envisioned as a fresh new start, with some very innovative features and additions. Starting with the bold new art style and backing it up with a new setting and plot, the game did pretty good in terms of sales, despite the fact that it was launched at the beginning of December, when all of the other blockbuster titles were already released.

As we reported a few days ago, the producer of the game, Ben Mattes, revealed that significant DLC (Downloadable Content) for the game would appear in the future. Now it seems that the Ubisoft team has decided to reveal all of the details about this pack and schedule its release date, February 26. Marked for appearance on the Xbox 360 Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network Store, The Prince of Persia Epilogue pack will give players a new experience, taking it up from where the game ended.

“Without spoiling the end of the game to those who haven't completed it, the DLC will develop the relationship between the Prince and Elika following the end of the game and will give additional narrative elements,” said Jamal Rguigui, the associate producer for this DLC pack. “Also, players will discover the immense and once glorious Underground Palace which is now corrupted and where danger awaits every corner.”

It seems that after the game ends a lot of changes will occur, as the two main characters will receive new powers. Elika will get an “Energize” feature, which will allow her to recreate portions of the Underground Palace that have collapsed, and the Prince will now be able to sprint and stun his opponents. Speaking of enemies, a brand new one will appear and try to stop the two heroes, the Shapeshifter, which, coincidentally, can take the form of two previous bosses from the original game, the Warrior and the Hunter.

The DLC is set to offer a more difficult experience to hardcore Prince of Persia fans, which complained that the game was a bit too easy and didn't really make the player feel like he was responsible for the actions showed on screen. The enemies will be more aggressive and new traps will be placed in order to prevent the Prince and Elika from reaching certain places.

Prince of Persia Epilogue, while it will further develop the relationship between the two heroes, won't lead up to a sequel to the game, reveals Rguigui, as the French company hasn't made such a decision. Until this DLC will be released, we can still enjoy the original game and its unique environments.
