QuickPlay Media Inc. has released PrimeTime2Go, which will be available for Motorola Android-powered smartphones. This is a subscription-based Android service that does not only allow you to watch TV shows over Wi-Fi, but also to use the phone as a DVR. United Sates customers will be able to access the service via an application downloadable from the Android Market. Currently, the service is available on the Motorola CLIQ, CLIQ XT, DROID and BACKFLIP, but will soon come to more Motorola Android-powered devices.

Users who subscribe to this service will have to pay $9.99 per month for membership and will then be able to subscribe to all of their favorite shows and download episodes from some of the major networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, MTV, ESPN, Discovery Channel, and many more.

At the moment, the service is only available in the United States, with more locations to be added in the future. Customers can either download on-demand episodes or have their devices deliver requested episodes after the official air dates. The DVR capability enables customers to use functions like fast-forward, rewind or pause, making the viewing experience a lot more easier and convenient.

“PrimeTime2Go has been recognized by both industry experts and consumers for its incredible convenience, high-quality playback and ability to expand the television experience beyond the TV and the Internet,” Wayne Purboo, president and CEO, QuickPlay Media, said. “We're excited to partner with one of the world's leading handset manufacturers, Motorola, and to extend the service to the company's large base of Android-powered smartphone consumers.”

Some of the programs found in the PrimeTime2Go library include: MTV's “The Hills,” ABC's “Lost” and “Grey's Anatomy,” Discovery Channel's “Mythbusters,” CBS's “Crime Scene Investigation,” and many more.

According to Christy Wyatt, VP of software and services product development at Motorola Mobile Devices, the PrimeTime2Go service allows Motorola to deliver a high-fidelity TV experience to its customers, while also showcasing the capabilities of the company's Android-powered smartphones.
