Since the July release, the first-person shooter from Human Head Studios, Prey has managed to surpass expectations and to register a large amount of success in sales.

According to 3D Realms CEO, Scott Miller's blog, the game exceeded sales figures of over one million units. According to him, for a game that is present only on two platforms to surpass the one million units landmark it's something quite impressive. He also added that he is thinking of a sequel, and that the story of the sequel will go beyond the realm of the Earth. Also some rumors about a Prey movie came up, if we are to believe the guys over at 1up.com.

A multiplayer demo of the game was released on June 22 and on June 30 a Xbox 360 downloadable demo was made available for Xbox Live Marketplace users. Prey finally went gold on June 28, 2006 and was released on July 11.

Prey is the first game to feature a Native American as the main character. His names is Domani Tawodi-Tommy- and his life changes dramatically after the bar that he owns is lifted up by a gravitational force and sucked into a green light in the sky. He ends up fighting some aliens, while trying to rescue the people of the Earth.
