In the past, she often made room for talk of an eating disorder, especially since her many visits to the beach always revealed a close to skeletal frame that hinted of lack of proper nourishment. Now pregnant with her second child, television personality, fashionista and socialite Nicole Richie says a happy life also means healthy living.

She couldn’t offer a “recipe” to happiness even if she tried really hard, but what Nicole can say is that healthy eating is essential to health and feeling good about one’s body, especially when you’re pregnant, such as is her case. “I feel better when I eat better.” the star, once so controversial because of her diminutive frame, says for Us Weekly. “It’s as simple as that. I already eat organic, but being pregnant, I feel in tune with my body.” Nicole adds.

Of course, being healthy is not all about eating, since she also has to work out to make sure her body works at maximum parameters, which is important now that she’s carrying her second baby. This is why the star also goes hiking in LA’s Runyon Canyon Park and spends as much time as she can outdoors with her family, so far comprised of Joel Madden of the Good Charlotte band and daughter Harlow Winter. Nicole plans on raising her children to love nature and everything that surrounds them because, she says in the same interview, at the end of the day, “we are creatures of the Earth.”

As we were also telling you back in February, former wildchild Nicole Richie announced that she was expecting a second child – in fact, it was Joel Madden, the father, who made the official announcement in a post on his official webpage. Addressing fans directly, Joel revealed that he and Nicole had just learned that Harlow Winter would have a baby brother or sister, much to the surprise of the entire media since neither star had spoken about further plans for a baby until that moment.

“What’s better than winning an Oscar? I am so happy to tell everyone that Harlow is going to be a big sister. God has truly blessed my family. Hope you’re all feeling as good as I am right now.” Madden wrote at the time.
