Future Shop, the large Canadian retailer and etailer of consumer electronics, has just announced that it would have the Nexus S by Samsung available on pre-order starting with March 21st.

The new mobile phone comes with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, and was the first device to land on shelves with the new platform release.

“Starting Monday, March 21, 2011, Future Shop, Canada’s largest retailer and etailer of consumer electronics, is accepting pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nexus S from Google smartphone,” the company announced.

At the same time, the popular retailer announced that the new device would become available for purchase via all 146 Future Shop locations around the country, and that it would also be present on the company's online portal.

“Available at all 146 Future Shop locations and www.futureshop.ca early April, the latest innovation by Samsung offers the Canadian debut of the Pure Google Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” operating system, 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, the world’s first 4″ brilliant contour display, and much more,” the company stated.

The retailer also confirmed that the Nexus S from Google will become available for purchase via Bell, Fido, Koodo, Rogers and Telus networks.

Previously, Samsung announced that they plan on putting the new smartphone on sale via all wireless carriers in the country.

No specific info on the price tag of this device emerged for the time being, but Future Shop promises that it would be unveiled in early April.

Powered by a fast 1GHz Hummingbird application processor, the Nexus S also includes a unique curved 4-inch touchscreen display, along with 16GB of internal memory, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Moreover, it would arrive on shelves in Canada with 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as with GPS receiver, NFC capabilities, and with support for a wide range of Google Mobile Services and for applications available for download via the Android Market.
