The PlayStation Portable is one of the most popular handheld gaming systems out there, despite the fact that Nintendo's DS manages to overtake it in sales in territories such as Europe or North America. But even though we've seen quite a lot of rumors lately about the next version in the console lineup and what features it will have, Sony is still focused on getting more and more users to actually use the device for playing games, rather than buy it for music and video playback or for its Wi-Fi features.

Part of this new 2009 – year of the PSP strategy, Sony has already announced two big franchises that will arrive on the handheld, LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm, and has now just revealed that the device will receive a Greatest Hits collection of titles, all retailing for the small price of just 19.99 dollars.

The game lineup includes massively popular titles like God of War: Chains of Olympus or SOCOM: Tactical Strike. They will all receive new packaging and will be available for purchase starting next month, on April 5. Here is the complete list of titles that will be featured in this collection and their publishers.

God of War: Chains of Olympus (SCEA) Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (EA) Mortal Kombat: Unchained (Midway) Patapon (SCEA) SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Tactical Strike (SCEA) Sonic Rivals 2 (Sega) SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Ubisoft) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Ubisoft)

A pretty varied collection if you look at it from the perspective of a hardcore gamer, but it definitely seems that Sony wants to attract all types of gamers with these titles. A lot of people who have put off buying games like God of War or the ones from the Tom Clancy franchise should definitely consider picking them up now for their PSP.
