Chains of Olympus might receive a sequel

Sony's PlayStation Portable title has received a lot of media attention in the past few days because of the big number of rumors that are flying around in regard to the next version in the lineup. As such, gamers across the world barely noticed the announcement of popular franchises such as LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm arriving on the small handheld.

But it seems that Sony is really going to keep its promise to bring great franchises to the handheld, and will go for broke, as it has contacted Ready at Dawn in order to create a new game. For some of you that name will certainly ring a bell, as the studio was the one responsible for the very solid God of War: Chains of Olympus title that arrived for the Japanese handheld.

But although it was known that the studio had given up on the PSP, returning its development kits back to Sony, the Japanese company contacted them again and, presumably, handed the rights to the God of War franchise to them for another portable title, at least according to Joystiq, which cites sources close to the studio. The future game might make its appearance at the E3 conference this summer, and might be released at the same time as the full-fledged God of War III title.

The fact that Ready at Dawn is working on a new title has been hinted at by both John Koller from Sony, who declared that “Ready at Dawn is a fantastic developer, they did God of War: Chains of Olympus and Daxter. The conversations with them continue so don't give up on Ready at Dawn yet,” as well as the president and co-founder of the studio, Didier Malenfant. When asked about the possibility of a new God of War title he replied: “You know that even if we were making the game, I couldn't answer your question.”

It seems that both Sony and Ready at Dawn are certainly keeping things under a tight lid, so it looks like we're going to have to wait at least until E3 to hear some concrete news about the new portable adventures of Kratos.
