US$ 100 for a PS3

GameStop announced that gamers will be able to pre-order the PS3- the new games console, starting today.

The sum required to be deposited for pre-ordering a PS3 is US$ 100, double in comparison with past consoles that required only a US$ 50 deposit. Cash, credit or trade is accepted by GameStop. BUT, and there is a big but, the retailer does not guarantee that by pre-ordering a PS3, you will get one on the same day of the launch. The retailer explained that production and shipping can not be controlled.

If you've planned ahead and made friends with someone working in the retail industry, you will be able to play on the PS3 in the same day in which it will be launched. Pre-order plans being limited, just eight units will be shipped to each retailer, and out of this eight units, two of them will go to employees.

Sony shows signs of "magnanimity" and ships 16 (WOW) PS3s to larger stores. In order to avoid any swindles made by "wise-guys", the allocation will be spoken for within minutes of the offer beginning.

If you do the math, about 10% of the 400,000 PS3 units meant for North America will come to GameStop stores as the retail chain amounts 4,400 stores nationwide.
