Aussies love it

You probably know GripShift as being a PSP title. Not anymore apparently, as a PS3 version of this handheld racing game is more than probable. From the looks of it, it won't be a full game but one of Sony's e-Distribution titles.

Eurogamer reports that it will cost US$ 9.99 and that it will be released later this month or in early January. I guess this could turn out to be great, as the number of PS3 games available is extremely slender. On top of this, GripShift is one spectacular game, combining action and puzzle elements, all with a twist of some serious racing.

The game features more than 100 different levels in 4 themed worlds. You drive your buggy through multiple routes, loops, jump using ramp while avoiding dangers in the game. You can also create your own races, by using the in-game Track Editor and you are allowed to share them wirelessly with your friends.

There are 6 playable characters and customizable vehicles, but also 8 bonus games such as Penguin Bowling, Soccer Crazy, Ice Hockey, Snaker and Bomb Pool. The multiplayer aspect of the game was not left aside, as up to four players can create a wireless ad-hoc connection as rev-up motors against each other.

It may turn out to be a great PS3 release, as GripShift has won many awards since its 2005 release. At the 2005 Australian Game Developers' Conference, GripShift won the grand prize for the Best Handheld Game, Best Level Design and Best Game Design. I guess it's safe to say that Aussies love "Gripping Shifts".
