14 DAY TRIAL // The pink flavor of Samsung Galaxy S II is about to make its debut in Taiwan. The smartphone is already available for purchase in Sweden via Three, as well as South Korea.
Apart from the different color, the smartphone does not come with anything new, so customers who prefer vivid colors that stand out can give this one a try.
Samsung announced that the pink-themed Galaxy S II will be available in Taiwan beginning January 1, 2012 for TWD 21,900 (725 USD or 560 EUR).
One of the most popular Android smartphones available in the market, the Samsung Galaxy S II will be among the first to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich, alongside the Galaxy Note.
The Korean handset maker confirmed plans to update its top-tier Galaxy family device beginning next year. Although the list of upgradeable devices is not that long, Samsung may add more smartphones in the future.
Sadly, the other successful Android-based smartphone launched by Samsung almost two years ago, the Galaxy S won’t be receiving the Android 4.0 upgrade.
The company initially announced that the Galaxy S and the original Galaxy Tab are not eligible for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade due to the hardware limitations and the fact that they run its proprietary TouchWiz user interface.
Given the feedback received the company decided to try and push at least a “Value Pack” that will provide Galaxy S owners with a glimpse of what Ice Cream Sandwich has to offer.
All in all, the Galaxy S II is still an incredible device even after eight months after its release on the market. The smartphone features a powerful dual core 1.2 GHz Exynos processor manufactured by Samsung, which is complemented by a Mali-400MP graphics processing unit.
It comes with a brilliant 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution, which is protected against scratches by Corning Gorilla Glass.
Other highlights of the phone include: 8-megpaixel main camera, 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM, USB On-the-go, TV-out, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support and more.
