Still waiting for a official release

Until Dell decides to finally roll out its much-hyped netbook, known under the unofficial dubbing of Mini Inspiron or Inspiron 910, we'll just have to make do with all those leaked images and details that we already have at our disposal. But that's not all: this once, the small-sized netbook has been snapped in a couple of photos running an Ubuntu operating system, something that has been rumored for quite a while.

Gathering all the yet unconfirmed bits and pieces we have on Dell's Atom-powered netbook, we can probably say that the only surprise the company could possibly have in store for us right now would be to finally roll out the netbook. Unfortunately, the latest info made available doesn't say anything about the release date; but it does, however, confirm several older rumors, according to which Dell's netbook would be shipped with a Linux-based Ubuntu operating system. As already noted, these rumors have been confirmed after another round of leaked images, showcasing the Inspiron 910 running an Ubuntu OS, have surfaced the Internet.

Furthermore, the images also confirm that the N270 single-core Atom processor will power the small Inspiron. The configuration screen displays the 512MB of system memory and just 1GB of available disk space. Other than that, the Mini Inspiron looks exactly as in every other unofficial photo we have seen so far, with the 8.9-inch display and the tightly fit keyboard.

Summing up all that we have on the small portable computer system, we should also mention that it will be equipped with an Intel 945GSE chipset and will run on a maxim memory of 1GB DDR2-800MHz. The 8.9-inch display has a maximum resolution of 1024 by 600. Dell will also offer users a choice for a Flash-based SSD, with capacities ranging from 4 to 16GB. It will sport a maximum of 3 USB ports and a 3-in-1 media card reader.

The only thing that hasn't been detailed so far is related to the price tag and availability of the netbooks. Given all of the above, the anticipation with which Mini Inspiron fans are waiting for something official from Dell is only understandable.
