Dell's highly anticipated netbook, soon to be known as Inspiron 910, is expected to make its debut on the market this Friday. Despite this not being official yet, rumors strongly suggest that not only the new Eee PC competitor will be unveiled very soon, but that it will also be ready to challenge ASUS' own 8.9-inch netbooks. Furthermore, it looks like Dell will be shipping its brand new product with a pre-installed, Linux-based Ubuntu version 8.04 operating system.

Windows users need not worry, as the company will also offer its small-sized portable computer system with a Windows XP option. But there's more than just the rumored release date and OS specifications: Gizmodo has recently posted a number of leaked slides showcasing Dell's upcoming netbook, including a full specifications list and images of its design features.

As expected, the new Eee PC competitor is also going to be powered by the already famous Intel Atom N270 processor, running at 1.6GHz. The Inspiron 910 will also feature 512MB of RAM memory, with the possibility of extending that to a full GB. As far as storage goes, the upcoming netbook will be equipped with a flash-based solid state drive, with users having the option of going for a 4GB, 8GB or the 16GB capacity. Support for WLAN/WWAN and Bluetooth will also be included, as well high-speed wired connection through the 10/100 Ethernet port.

The connectivity options include a maximum of 3 USB 2.0 ports, a VGA port, two Audio jacks with microphone and headphone support, and a 3-in-1 media card reader.

The netbook will be powered by a 4-cell battery, which will take the system to 2.20lbs, meaning at almost the same weight as one of ASUS' upcoming 8.9-inch netbooks we told you about earlier today. Only thing that's missing here is details about pricing but, given the rumored launch date, we should soon learn just how much Dell considers its netbook is worth.
