The baby elephant was born on October 12, still can't properly control its feet

Some time ago, I came across a video of a polar bear cub that kept face-planting in a kiddie pool over and over again, just for the fun of it. At that time, I could've sworn it would be a cryogenic day in hell when I got the chance to see anything as entertaining as that.

It turns out I was wrong, and that seeing a baby elephant landing trunk-first in mud is equally amusing.

The picture above was taken at Whipsade Zoo in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. The Asian elephant calf featured in it is a boy, and was born at this facility nearly a month ago, on October 12. Its name is Max.

It's quite obvious that it has not yet gained full control of its feet, and that they sometimes decide to have some fun by turning against it.

Keepers say that calf was born to mother Karishma, and that it spends its time sleeping, eating and running (or at least trying to run) around its enclosure.

“Karishma is proving to be an excellent mum and the other elephants are just so excited to be around Max. Elephants are very social animals and having youngsters joining the herd is what elephant life is all about,” says keeper Stefan Groeneveld, as cited by Daily Mail.
