As expected, Chinese OEM Phicomm introduced its first Android smartphone in India, the Passion 660. The smartphone is already available for purchase in China, but customers in India will be able to get it beginning June 9.

According to Phicomm, Passion 660 will be exclusively available in India via Amazon for only Rs 10,999 ($170 / €150) off contract. The smartphone is available in either Black or White colors.

The Passion 660 is a mid-range smartphone that comes with an Android 4.4-based Expect OS 5.0 out of the box. Unfortunately, the Chinese company did not share any details on a possible Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Passion 660, so we must assume it won't come.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Passion 660 comes with dual-SIM support, but one of the slots is required for microSD memory card if you plan on increasing the amount of storage.

More than decent specs, but older version of Android

Furthermore, the smartphone sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

On the back, Passion 660 packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, f2.0 aperture and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

When it comes to connectivity, Phicomm's smartphone is an all-rounder. It offers 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, GPS with AGPS and FM Radio.

“Phicomm Passion 660 is an innovative smartphone which reflects the distinctive needs of the Indian consumers. Indian smartphone market is constantly evolving and consumers here are looking for unique smartphones with advanced features and high standards to gain the maximum experience.

“Our strong in-house research and development team have helped in customizing the smart phone especially for the Indian consumers,” said Zheng Min - CEO of Phicomm.
