Chinese company Phicomm has just announced it will enter the Indian market next month and the first smartphone to launch in the mid-range tier is Passion 660.

The smartphone is also known as P660 in China where it's already available for purchase. Phicomm is a completely unknown company for Indian customers, but that might change after the release of the Passion 660.

According to a new report, Phicomm plans to launch the Passion 660 in India on June 3. The Chinese company has already sent invitations to the launch event where the smartphone will be unveiled.

Unfortunately, we don't have any details on availability and pricing options. Phicomm is expected to announce more details on this one next week, so we will know whether or not the Passion 660 will be available on the market on the same day it goes official.

Moving on to specs, Phicomm's Passion 660 is a mid-range smartphone. While it does pack a pretty decent processor, it runs an older version of Android.

Android 4.4 KitKat OS is the only downside

The Passion 660 is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, which might prove fatal for a mid-range handset that wants to compete with Meizu M1 Note and Xiaomi Mi4i.

Anyway, the rest of the smartphone's specs seem worthy enough, but that also depends on the price tag. Phicomm Passion 660 is equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

Sadly, there's no mention of microSD card slot for memory expansion, but we do know Passion 660 offers dual-SIM support.

On the back, the smartphone packs a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Phicomm's Passion 660 sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. It's powered by a 2,300 mAh battery and comes with 4G LTE support.
