14 DAY TRIAL // After the announcement made earlier today for the new Pentax-08 Wide Zoom lens, the Nippon manufacturer also announced the first weather-sealed zoom lens of the high-end Limited Lens series, named HD PENTAX-DA 20-40mmF2.8-4ED Limited DC WR designed for its K-mount APS-C format cameras.
The lens features a 30.5mm to 61.5mm (35mm-equivalent) focal range at a maximum aperture of f/2.8 – f/4.0.
The most important feature of this lens may be that it's the first Limited Lens-series model that comes with a weather-sealed body with seven special seals, making it ideal for shooting in rainy environments.
The HD PENTAX-DA 20-40mmF2.8-4ED Limited DC WR barrel, hood and cap are made entirely from aluminum, making the lens as lightest as possible with a weight of 283g /10 oz without the lens cap attached.
This lens has a length of 71mm x 68.5mm (2.8 inch x 2.7 inch) and can focus as close as 0.28m / 0.9 ft. Available in two versions (black or silver) the new HD PENTAX-DA 20-40mmF2.8-4ED Limited DC WR lens will hit shelves this December at a price of $1000 / €739.
