Patriot Memory recently made its presence felt on the DDR3 memory market, by unleashing the Viper II Sector 7 kit. As such, one may think that the company would follow up with something of the same nature, if only to boost interest in its product now that new CPUs and GPUs are on the horizon. The hardware maker decided to change the tune though. In fact, it went ahead and took a break from RAM making in order to see to the needs of the storage market. As such, it entered the SDXC memory card game, and did so in force.

SDXC is the shortened version of Secure Digital eXtended Capacity and the first such product to be released by the outfit went all the way up to a capacity of 64GB. It is part of the LX series and, as a testament to its high performance, has already gained UHS-I (Ultra High Speed - Class 1) certification. This was possible because the transfer speeds themselves can actually go as high as 104MB/s. Basically, the SDXC should perform admirably inside DSLR cameras compatible with the format. It also features Class 10 rating (which demands a minimum sustained write speed of 10MB/s) and compliance with the SDA 3.0 specifications.

"The LX Series Class 10 SDXC memory cards are another example of how Patriot provides cutting edge solutions to end users and channel partners," states Les Henry, Vice President of Engineering at Patriot. "Our LX Series Class 10 SDXC cards provide the capacity and performance required by consumers for extended HD-video recording and rapid still image photography. Capture every image or video without missing a moment - Depend on the Patriot LX Class 10 SDXC card."

Patriot's 64GB SDXC card has already been made available for pre-order on online retailers, priced at $347.2.
