Korean mobile phone maker Pantech is reported to be working on a new handset that will come to the wireless operator O2. According to the news, the new device, an Xda smartphone, has been spotted at the GCF (Global Certification Forum), and it should come to the market under the name of “Xda Venn,” though no further info on it has been made available.

The pieces of information on the Xda Venn that are available for the time being show that it sports quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 (though it is most certain that GPRS and EDGE will also be included in the package) as well as single-band UMTS/HSDPA at 2100 MHz.

The spec list available at GCF also shows that the device supports MMS messaging capabilities and also includes Internet browsing functionality. There are no exact details on the operating system it will come with, yet, given the fact that it is an Xda phone, it can be assumed that the O2 Xda Venn will sport Windows Mobile (if true, then it will surely support Windows Mobile 6.5 or allow for upgrades to it).

These would be about all the details that are known so far on the O2 Xda Venn, though some of them are only suppositions at the moment. Yet, given the fact that the phone has already received GCF certification, it shouldn't be too long before it comes to the market.

It seems that no details on what O2 network the Xda Venn will come to are available either, and the same applies to the price tag of the device. However, given the fact that it should be launched in the near future, more info on it might emerge shortly. Stay tuned to learn more details on the upcoming O2 Xda Venn as soon as they become available.
