Mobile phone users in the United States have now the opportunity to win a new handset, as Pantech is offering 26 units of its new Pantech Matrix Pro smartphone via a series of websites. The giveaway period seems to have started already, as of yesterday, and will end on May 14.

Each of the sites involved will have its own promotion or contest, yet the handsets will only go to users in the US, as the phones come locked on AT&T's networks. The good news, however, is that those interesting in winning a Pantech Matrix Pro will be able to enter the contest on each site, though every subscriber can win only one phone.

Many of you might already know the device, as it is a rather good-looking piece of hardware, but we should say a few words about it for those who aren't familiar with it yet. One of the most attractive features of the handset is the fact that it includes two keyboards – one of them can be used to dial numbers, while the other one allows for typing emails, messages, texts. In addition to the interesting design, the phone comes with Windows Mobile 6.1, also offering the possibility to easily read and edit Microsoft Office documents.

The phone also includes a 2-megapixel photo snapper, Windows Media Player Mobile 10, music player with support for MP3, AAC, Real, WAV, WMA, streaming Radio, Web browser, 256 MB of internal memory, expandable to up to 32GB through the included microSD memory card slot, a 2.4-inch display that delivers a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and support for 260K colors, and a 1320 mAH battery able to offer up to 3 hours of talk time, as well as up to 10.4 days of standby time.

The fist site to launch the giveaway promotion is Tools for Thought, and users can enter the competition until April 19, when the winner will be announced. Gear Live will be the last on the list, and it plans on announcing its winner on May 14. Slashgear is yet another site that will be included in the promotion, and it also lists all the sites that will participate.
