One thing is certain and that is that, when a phone goes to FCC testing, we get lots of interesting bits of information about it. This is the case with Sony Ericsson W902 and Panatech OZII (the Ocean 2), which have recently received certification. Since the FCC has to perform a lot of tests on the phones before certifying them, its online database gave us a sneak peek at these two devices. Okay, mostly at the OZII, since all the specs for W902 are already up on the Sony Ericsson website.

Apparently, the Panatech Ocean 2 has a QVGA display and a full QWERTY keyboard, along with a standard numeric keypad, and is a dual-slider. Also, another difference from the Ocean model is a little improvement in terms of style, OZII having an overall slimmer look. Other features of the phone are EVDO 3G and full HTML browsing, stereo Bluetooth, a 2 megapixel camera with flash and video recording, and microSD card slot.

On the other hand, there is no mystery left about Sony Ericsson's W902. As noted above, all the specs for it can be found on the Sony Ericsson website, the only thing remaining to be done about it being to officially launch it. This is going to be a new Walkman series model, so it has plenty of music features. The only downside is the fact that it has a very small internal memory, but you get an 8GB M2 card included in the sales package, so it shouldn't be such a big problem after all. Also, the W902 should take pretty good pictures since it has a 5 Megapixel camera with flash, autofocus and video-recording capabilities. Thanks to its HSPDA connectivity, you won't have any problems surfing the Internet or viewing Web pages, especially on the 2.2'' 262K TFT display.

Two phones, two unknown price tags and two unknown release dates. All users who wish to own either of them will just have to have a little more patience since the FCC has already finished testing them, so it shouldn’t be that long until they're able to buy one.
