As time passes by video streaming services become more and more popular among consumer and manufacturers alike, a large number of IPTV enabled devices getting video streaming support, Panasonic just announcing they will offer Vudu access to their Viera Cast enabled Blu-ray players.

Once this new firmware upgrade will become available users will gain access to a wide range of high definition movies, including more than 4,000 Full HD (1080p) titles.

No other devices will be required apart from a Viera Cast enabled Blu-ray player, the Vudu on-demand service requiring no subscription or monthly membership fees, movies being available to rent for $2 per two-nights, new Vudu users on Viera Cast receiving a $5.99 credit, enabling them to watch their first HD movie on the service for free.

According to Panasonic, Vudu is the latest entertainment feature to be added to Viera Cast IPTC devices, this joining an ever growing list of online services such as Netflix, Skype, Pandora, Twitter, Amazon Video-on-Demand, You Tube, Google Picasa Web Album, Fox Sports and Bloomberg News

“Connected TV will continue to become an increasingly important feature for consumers and Panasonic is working tirelessly to build upon the already robust entertainment and connectivity experiences our Viera Cast customers can enjoy,” said Panasonic Corporation of North America Vice President, Merwan Mereby.

“The addition of Vudu to our 2010 Viera Cast offerings gives consumers access to a virtually endless library of TV and High Definition movie content when they want it and instantly streamed into their TV without ever having to leave the couch.”

Vudu support will start rolling out across all Viera Cast enabled Blu-ray players on November 24, according to the company.

Is not yet sure when will Vudu support come to Viera Cast enabled HDTV, Panasonic not releasing any infos in this regard.
