With HDTVs gaining more and more PC-like capabilities, it was just a matter of time before they were granted the ability to stream from online sources, and Panasonic has just announced that, in addition to its Blu-ray players, its VIERA HDTVs now have access to Netflix.

The range of electronics featuring the VIERA Cast feature are known fro possessing features like Skype voice and video calling, Pandora and Twitter, among other things.

Panasonic has VIERA Blu-ray players and HDTVs as part of this collection, and has just issued an announcement in order to make it known that another feature has now been added.

What the company did was make Netflix streaming possible on these multimedia solutions, adding to an already sizable list.

The list includes Bloomberg News, Google's Picasa Web Album, YouTube and Amazon Video on Demand, among other things.

Now, through Netflix, customers will be able to stream movies and TV shows over the Internet for as little as $8.99 per month.

"The addition of Netflix to our 2010 VIERA CAST offerings now gives consumers access to the leading online movie subscription service right from their 2010 VIERA CAST-enabled VIERA HDTVs and Blu-ray Disc players,” he went on to saying.

“The features now available on VIERA CAST provide consumers with access to a wide range of the leading entertainment and interactive sites which allow them to enjoy high definition movies and connect directly with family and friends right from their HDTV in the comfort of their own living room," Mereby added.
