14 DAY TRIAL // Not long ago, Pamela Anderson was saying that she was past being just the “Baywatch” bombshell and that she had moved on to becoming art. Renowned fashion designer Vivienne Westwood thinks the same of the star, as she’s been the muse and face of her collections for quite some time now. Anderson’s latest appearance on the red carpet at the Annual Hollywood Style Awards also seems to point that she is, indeed, just the woman to help make a statement.
Although some found many things to object to Anderson’s appearance on the red carpet at the event, where she had Adelaide Gault, the daughter of her stylist, hold the trail to her chaotic dress, not few are the critics who are saying Pamela is slowly making a name for herself as a quirky icon. Dressed in a pink gown of recycled couture and barely balancing herself on killer heels, the PETA spokesperson posed for pictures with Adelaide and famed photographer David LaChapelle.
At first sight, the dress Anderson wore seemed to be something she just threw on in the biggest rush imaginable, without stopping to see what went where. Apparently made of bits and pieces of other designer items held together with straps, knots and safety pins, the asymmetric gown – more like a deformed bundle of cloth than anything else – was deemed the biggest surprise of the event.
Nothing better for such an extravagant star like Pamela than a chaotic design that also marks the kickoff of the Los Angeles Fashion Week. High fashion, as all women know, has little to do with the creations one would wear on a normal day. In this context, it’s no wonder that Pamela Anderson’s presence on the red carpet at the Style Awards was seen as a statement that fashion was more about having the confidence of going against the stream than blindly obeying rules like everybody else.
Of course, Pamela was the only one to cause such a stir with her outfit. Other stars, like “Heroes” actress Hayden Panetierre, “90210” actress Jessica Stroup, reality star and socialite extraordinaire Kim Kardashian and British singer and television personality Kelly Osbourne kept it classy and light in fashionable, risk-free creations.
