14 DAY TRIAL // Eccentric Dame Westwood, as she’s known in the fashion industry, met “pneumatic babe” Pamela Anderson at a glitzy party in 2007 and, to her admission, fell in love with her quirkiness. As a matter of fact, she fell so much in love with her, that she asked Anderson to be the face of her new spring collection – and the fabulous ads for it are just out, as PopSugar confirms.
Since it was Pam’s “quirkiness” that Westwood liked the first time she met her, it was on it that she chose to base the shots for the upcoming collection. A lovely mess of unconnected elements and of bright spots, the photos show a side of Pamela Anderson that most of her “Baywatch” days fans are probably not familiar with. As PopSugar says, it’s clear she’s having fun, despite the chaos that reigns around her, and it’s precisely this fun that should determine customers to at least check out the latest Westwood collection.
All photos have been shot in LA by Juergen Teller, and are meant to disorient whoever is looking at them, by introducing a Pamela that has never come out in public and that has become possible thanks to the renowned designer. In all fairness, they do make quite an impression, bursting as they are with life and light – somehow to the disadvantage of being very hard to focus on the clothes on display.
Either way, rumor in the industry has it that the former “babe” and current PETA supporter was given somewhere in the range of a six-digit paycheck to be the face of the new Westwood collection. When asked about the deal, as well as about what the public should expect from the new celebrity-meets-fashion agreement, Vivienne Westwood only said “I can’t speak about it yet. But anything I would say would be completely positive.” Looking at the pictures, most would certainly agree that positive is quite an understatement.
