It seems that Palm's Treo Pro will be soon added to a carrier's offering, only that it will not be on Sprint, as we were all expecting, but on Alltel. The handset is expected to be added to the mobile phone operator's lineup on March 5th, on Thursday that is, and it should feature a price tag of $199 upon the signing of a contract with the company, and after rebate.

Many of you should already remember that Sprint announced a $249 price tag for the device, which means that Alltel will have it cheaper. The carrier offers a $125 rebate for the device and you'll have the Treo Pro after inking a two-year agreement. At the same time, Alltel will also become the first US mobile operator that would offer the CDMA version of the device.

For the time being, no official word from Alltel or Palm has been released in what the launch of the device on March 5th is concerned, yet one of the two is expected to make an official announcement in the nearest future, provided that the device does head towards Alltel.

At the same time, the new Treo Pro will also make a nice addition to the carrier’s lineup of Windows Mobile powered devices, besides the already present there Touch Diamond and Touch Pro. Its new parent company Verizon is still a little bit behind, although it is expected to add some nice handsets in the near future as well, besides the rather old Windows Mobile-powered smartphones that are listed on the operator's website.

Hopefully, this time we'll see the Treo Pro released to users in due time, and we'll not have to wait for ages for it to become available, as is the case with Sprint, which already delayed the launch of Treo Pro a few times for to various reasons.
