A full virtual QWERTY too

Palm Pre mobile phone users have another reason to rejoice, as three new applications have been recently added to the App Catalog, the application portal that includes software solutions developed for the operating system running on their handsets, the Palm webOS. While the list of apps available at the moment for the platform is a rather short one, it seems that more solutions are constantly added, and the catalog should soon become large enough to compete with similar offerings available on the market.

The three new applications available on the App Catalog include two new games, which should be received with even more joy, Blackout and Spades, and Echo for Palm Desktop 6.2.2. The first game in the list, Blackout, is simple and resembles a lot the “Lights Out” title for the iPhone. When clicking on a light, it will be turned on or off alongside all the non-diagonal neighbor lights. The second game, Spades, enables users to play cards with three AI players and comes with four game variants, namely Partner, Solo, Suicide and Mirror, as well as with a wide range of options.

The Echo for Palm Desktop 6.2.2 application is a synchronization solution that comes with features like Reliable Two-Way Palm Desktop Address Book and Date Book Synchronization or Local Wi-Fi Synchronization. The latter enables users to sync their device over a local Wi-Fi network while using a secure transfer process. The app delivers direct synchronization between a Windows PC and the Palm Pre. A 7-day trial is available for download.

Another solution that is reportedly coming to the Pre is a full-QWERTY virtual keyboard. While the handset comes with a QWERTY physical keypad, and with a virtual tool that provides users with access to symbols that are not available with the physical one, the new solution should provide them with all the letters, numbers and symbols necessary. In addition, the upcoming app is also reported to work in both landscape and portrait modes, though it is only available in a pre-alpha variant at the moment. More can be found here.
