Palm Pre users who would like to synchronize with local non-EAS desktop versions of Microsoft Outlook can now do so via a new software solution, PocketMirror from Chapura. This Outlook synchronization app is available for use with the WebOS on Palm Pre and can be found on the Palm App Catalog.

The PocketMirror Standard for webOS comes with full two-way synchronization functionality and can transfer information between the desktop versions of Outlook Contacts and Calendar and the corresponding Pre applications without the need of a cable for connectivity. The solution uses the local Wi-Fi network and a secure transfer process that does not store or send users' PIM data over the web, but works as a direct syncing solution between a Windows PC and the Pre.

“We are delighted to add PocketMirror support to Palm's webOS software platform and Pre," said Jim Chappelle, president of Chapura. "With the help of the Mojo SDK, a good understanding of Outlook and our expertise in synchronization technology, we have been able to quickly bring this product to market and offer a reliable software solution that is simple to use and accurately transfers desktop information.” More details on this can be found here.

Another syncing solution that has been released for the newly launched handset is the Missing Sync for the Palm Pre from Mark/Space. The app allows Mac OS users to synchronize information between their Mac and Pre, including Apple's Address Book, iTunes, iCal, Entourage, Safari bookmarks, Documents, Videos and iPhoto.

The Missing Sync also offers the possibility to sync contacts and calendars via Wi-Fi. Although it is now available only for Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later, it seems that a Windows version is under development as well, and will become available in the near future. The Missing Sync for Palm Pre v1.0 is now in Beta and is free to use, yet the full version will cost $39.95. The solution can be downloaded from Softpedia as well, via this link.
