PSSC Labs has just announced the introduction of the PowerServe Duo T2000 machine that is designed so that it offers two complete and independent servers in just 1U of rack space, a characteristic that makes it ideal for being deployed in high performance cluster environments.

Each server is totally independent since there is no backplane or shared power supply, as it's usually the case with other blade server offerings.

According to the company, the PowerServe Duo T2000 server can be configured with AMD Opteron or Intel Xeon processors (customers can even use AMD for one server and Intel for the other) and each of the two motherboards packs dual CPU slots.

These can be accompanied by as much as 96GB of DDR3 memory with speeds of up to 1333MHz, three SSD or HDD storage drives (the machine features two 2.5-inch drive bays and one 3.5-inch drive bay), and can take one Nvidia or AMD graphics card thanks to a PCI Express x16 expansion slot riser.

Connectivity wise, the PowerServe Duo T2000 comes with two 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports and can be configured with a 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter or with an Infiniband adapter.

“High density, scalability, reliability and virtualization are core characteristics in building a cloud computing server environment.

“The Powerserve Duo T2000 offers a unique 1U side by side server design combined with eco-friendly and power saving features.

“This unique server architecture focuses on conserving energy and reducing the overall datacenter footprint to produce the lowest total cost of ownership,” reads a company statement about the PowerServe Duo T2000.

PSSC Labs has certified both VMWare and Xen virtualization software products to run on the PowerServe Duo T2000.

No details regarding availability and pricing were disclosed at this time.
