After yesterday's first official photo leak, the PSP2 has now seen its system specifications appear on the web, which confirm that the new handheld device is quite powerful.

The PSP2 has seen a huge amount of rumors fly around the web, but now, as Sony is getting ready to finally acknowledge the existence of the device, things have really started going out of control.

We already saw the first official photo of the PSP2 yesterday, alongside a few accessories like a stylus or a two memory sticks.

Now, thanks to a posting on NeoGAF (via CVG), the system specifications of a supposed PSP2 debug unit have been revealed, and they're quite impressive.

According to the leak, the PSP2 is powered by a quad core ARM Cortex A-9 processor and a PowerVR SGX 543 MP4+ graphics unit, the same hardware that might be incorporated into the next iPhone/iPad by Apple.

The American company, however, is rumored to be using a less powerful dual-core version on their new gadgets.

Still, the rest of the numbers of the PSP2 are even more impressive, as the device has a 5-inch OLED screen, 512MB of RAM, as well as a flash memory of 16GB and a slot for an SD memory card.

The specs also confirm that the PSP2 will have improved connectivity, through Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G network support, confirming a rumor that appeared at the beginning of the week.

The rest seemingly backs up previous rumors about the specifications of the PSP2, like a touch-sensitive trackpad, cameras on the front and back, as well as the accelerometer and GPS modules.

Check out the complete specs below.

- Dimensions: 17X7.4X2.3 cm - 5" OLED multi-touch screen (12.7 cm) - Multi-touch trackpad - Resolution: 960 x 544 - Quad core ARM Cortex A-9 - PowerVR SGX 543 MP4+ - 512MB LPDDR2 RAM (1GB devkits) - 16GB flash + SD slot - Wifi, 3G, bluetooth - Acelerometers, GPS, gyroscope, front and back camera.

Bear in mind that these are the specs of a special debug unit, sent to developers, but expect the retail version of the PSP2 to have mostly the same hardware.

The official announcement is scheduled to happen tomorrow, in Japan.
