The Wii's control scheme is what's troubling the developers

Earlier this month, Namco had announced an Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii version of the Beautiful Katamari game, being available by the end of this year. According to Orange Lounge Radio, "Namco has announced to retailers the arrival of the hit series onto the next-gen platforms. BEAUTIFUL KATAMARI is set to release on October 17th for $39.99 on the PS3 and XBOX 360 and will feature SIXAXIS support for the PS3 version. The Wii version will arrive shortly after on November 14th on the Wii for $29.99." As usual, the Wii is getting it last, but there's good reason for the delay this time:

"The Wii is also one of our platform choices. We would like to challenge with different interfaces such as the keyboard on a PC, or the touch pad on the DS. However, the controller for Wii is quite unique so being able to overcome the different issues will be the key," said Jun Moriwaki, the game's director.

Both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are said to be network compatible, while players will be able to choose from 50 (or more) characters other than the Prince, all this with just 50% of the game completed to date. Before Famitsu confirmed the game for the three consoles, Namco Bandai suggested to retailers that the game would simply be called Beautiful Katamari for North America. You know it's actually Beautiful Katamari Damacy.

So if you're a Wii owner and dying to get your hands on Beautiful Katamari, you've got some serious waiting ahead of you - that motion sensitive control scheme is a real bitch.
