Sony has a long record of changing their attitude from one day to the next but this beats them all. According to this report, Sony chairman Sir Howard Stringer is now 'more confident' about the PS3, as Nintendo is having trouble filling up shelves with Wiis to meet winter holiday demand, calling the PS3's games as "infinitely more fun, demanding and exciting."

As a true fan of the PlayStation brand I can't say it's not what what I've always wanted to hear, but the reality is that Sony's machine sports such a limited lineup of titles this time around, that "infinitely more fun" doesn't describe many of them - 2 or 3 tops. Anyway, care to see the man's full statement? Read on below:

"I'm happy the Wii seems to be running a bit short of hardware. The PlayStation 3 will come into its own because its [high-end games] are infinitely more fun, demanding and exciting," Sir Howard Stringer told Guardian Unlimited. "The question people quite rightly asked was if the PS3 was going to get through this early cycle. I feel much more confident about that now," he added.

Hiroshi Kamide of KBC Securities on the other hand, admits that Sony has managed to get the PS3 out of the mud, but that doesn't mean their road to success isn't a bumpy one still: "If you are the kind of person who plays once in a while, the bells and whistles that come with a PS3 don't mean much. It is a more powerful version of its predecessor, but in terms of games there's nothing really new. [...] Things do look a lot better than they did 12 months ago. My feeling is that they will continue to have a better time of it, but there is still a mountain to climb."

Nothing new indeed, just another positive reaction coming from a Sony official, in light of Nintendo's difficulties in responding to Wii demand. Games people, games! Then we can say it's safe to grab a PS3 and take it home for Christmas.
