PETA (People for the Ethical Treatments of Animals) isn’t looking to make any new friends in showbiz. After going after huge names like Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian, the group has set its sights on Rihanna for her animal-unfriendly fashion choices.

A few days ago, while in London on business and to work a bit more on her seventh studio album, Rihanna was photographed wearing a pair of knee-high snakeskin boots.

It didn’t take long for PETA to find out about her fashion “crime” and then issue a statement to vilify it, Contact Music reports.

Not only did the group call Rihanna a “freak,” but it also managed to insult Lady Gaga once more by throwing her name into the mix as well.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

“Rihanna may not have a clue that snakes killed for boots are often nailed to a tree and skinned alive. Of course, they can't go on Oprah to cry about it,” PETA says in a statement.

Yes, in case you thought your eyes were deceiving you, they didn’t: PETA really did go there.

The Oprah mention refers to the recent interview Rihanna did with the talk show host, in which she tearfully admitted she still loved ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, even though he physically abused her.

PETA doesn’t stop here either.

“Wearing reptile skin is creepy and callous, and it makes her look even more out of touch. She and Lady Gaga seem so desperate to be freaks instead of recognized for their talents that you have to wonder if they realize that they are being laughed at,” the same statement says.

It’s not long ago that Gaga also came under attack for PETA after stepping out wearing fur. Before that, it was Kim Kardashian who was at the receiving end, for rocking knee-high python boots on an outing with beau Kanye West.

Neither of these celebrities bothered to address PETA’s scathing comments in any way.
