CDV Software Entertainment USA has recently revealed their publishing agreement for Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, a Frogwares-developed adventure title for PC. In The Awakened, players will take on the role of Sherlock Holmes in a fantastic new mystery involving dark secrets and unholy terrors. Not soon after the agreement announcement, a fact sheet for the game was released. Mighty fast of them...!

First things first. The game's story goes pretty much as what everyone knows from the movies and books, as Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened combines the eerie mysticism of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos with the mystery-solving powers of the great detective Sherlock Holmes. The Awakened is the first fully 3D Sherlock Holmes game, and will feature rich graphics and detailed environments. The official report says that the classic point-and-click interface will allow gamers to explore five distinctly chilling environments while solving mysteries and completing puzzles based on object physics and lighting. With 60 unique characters roaming the game world, it will be difficult to tell who is friend or foe in this, Sherlock Holmes' most challenging, and horrifying, adventure.

Key features of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will include the following, in September 2007 when the game is released:

- A new, darker take on Sherlock Holmes with the classic literary hero encountering minions of the Old Gods - Dozens of challenging yet intuitive puzzles to challenge players - The first fully 3D Sherlock Holmes adventure with rich, immersive graphics to capture the player's imagination - A classical point-and-click interface makes the game accessible to players of all skill levels - A storyline filled with exciting twists and turns, where you're never sure who's an enemy, or an ally

Remember, the game is set for a September 2007 release for the PC platform. Until then, check out the real mysteries present in Sherlock Holmes movies and novel and who knows, maybe you'll be much better prepared for when the game hits the shops.
