14 DAY TRIAL // One of the applications available for Nokia mobile phone users is Ovi Contacts, a solution released over at Nopkia Beta Labs about a year and a half ago, and which is now available for download in a final flavor. The application has just graduated from the Beta Labs, after being downloaded around 300,000 times, its development team announces.
“The commercial Ovi Contacts client is available for compatible S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 and S60 5th Edition devices through software update, as well as pre-installed with new devices. You can also download the latest client to your device through your mobile browser at http://contacts.ovi.com/dist/app,” a recent post on the Nokia Beta Labs Blog reads.
Users of Nokia Chat should find the Ovi Contacts application quite easy to use, as well as familiar. With it, one would be able to let friends known what he/she is doing at a certain moment, as well as provide info on location. Moreover, one would also be able to check on friends' status messages, and more. Ovi Contacts is one of the two applications that enables users access Ovi Chat, while the other is Nokia Messaging Chat.
Some of the main features of the application include: - Presence: Let your friends know if you are available, busy or on the phone. Check your friends' availability. - Enhanced presence: You can share - or hide - your favorite places with your friends. You can also let your friends know what you are listening to. - Chat: Get in touch with your friends with chat. Convey your messages with emotions and share your location on the map via chat.
According to the development team, further enhancements should be brought to the Nokia Messaging Chat experience, such as the inclusion of features from Ovi Contacts, or cross-community features to deliver more to users of a wider range of IM communities. “We will utilize the experience gained from Ovi Contacts development, as well as the valuable feedback that you have already provided for Ovi Contacts here in betalabs,” the development team notes.
