Macrolane injections for a fuller bust prove a hit, with 3,000 women in the UK having the procedure in 18 months

It’s been a year and a half since women looking for a bigger or more proportionate bust have been presented with a better variant to the painful and costly plastic surgery. Macrolane injections have been approved in the UK 18 months ago and, during this time, about 3,000 women have benefited from this filler that offers a subtle, yet definite, improvement not only to their bust, but to other parts of their body as well.

As we were also telling you a while ago, the non-surgical procedure consists of injecting a hyaluronic-acid gel in the breast, which allows it to go up in size. The change, they say, it’s visible, but not as drastic as plastic surgery, which also means it’s more natural. Other advantages of Macrolane also include the significantly shorter recovery period (with some patients being up and about in as little as two days), the shorter time it takes to actually do the procedure (about half an hour) and the fact that it does not leave scars or tell-tale signs.

Macrolane being a filler, it also degrades in time (nine to 12 months), being then eliminated from the body. This also means the woman is not exposing herself to any risks by having foreign bodies in her body, as is the case with implants. Almost risk-free and more convenient than traditional plastic surgery, Macrolane is reportedly slowly poising itself as a leader on the market. What’s more, it can also be used to correct unevenness and for other parts of the body than the bust, like the backside, for instance.

“Macrolane represents a significant advance in non surgical techniques for body shaping and offers the patient more treatment options. It appeals to women with busy lives who do not have time to undergo surgical procedures and the related downtime which it involves.” Christopher Inglefield, with the London Bridge Plastic Surgery, says in a recent statement. However, while the safety of the gel used for the injection has been documented, further studies to perfect the technique are still pending.

Women who’ve already had the procedure are saying, though, that it’s the next best thing in terms of beautification methods. “I love my new Macrolane [breasts]. I wanted to increase my breast size without looking like a Barbie doll and Macrolane has given me a really natural look. It’s given me so much more confidence to wear the clothes that I want and I’m really pleased.” Nicola Brooks, one such patient, also adds.
