Oscar Pistorius will have to make a public appearance as he sets to show up in court for a trial hearing on Tuesday, May 4.

As reported, the athlete has been granted bail on February 22 and a judge has allowed him to leave the country for sports events. However, as the AP documents, he has only been seen in public twice since then.

The paralympic champ has shot his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, four times through a closed bathroom door. He is keeping to his story about shooting her by mistake, believing there was an intruder in his Pretoria house.

As South African laws allow it, he will be entering a self-defense plea. The Telegraph explains that you can shoot someone breaking into your home and possibly threatening your life, even if they are not armed.

The country has also outlawed jury trials, so Pistorius's fate rests in the hands of a judge.
