Today, wireless carrier Orange UK, key brand of the France Telecom Group, announced, together with C Mobile, the signing of a new environmentally focused Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). According to the company, the MVNO has been inked on the Orange Partner Platform via Transatel, Orange’s mobile virtual network aggregator (MVNA).

C Mobile, an online mobile reseller, is accredited with The Ethical Company Organisation, and is set to launch its Prepay MVNO nationally around the UK, later during the ongoing year. Users will benefit from offerings that include both SIM only and handset deals aimed at the ethical and eco market, the carrier notes.

Stephen Harris, director of Business Development at Orange UK said “It is great to see how many different companies are waking up to the potential of the MVNO market and with our Partner Platform it’s so easy and quick to get going. We are excited about the potential opportunities available for C Mobile in the eco-mobile space and look forward to working with them over the coming months.”

Customers will also be offered the possibility to support ecologically sustainable energy projects via a series of profit based grants, it seems. According to C Mobile, the specific details on its proposition are to be unveiled closer to the official launch. Founded in 2008, C Mobile launched its on-line reseller service in 2009, providing mobile phone users with an option for protecting the world in an eco and ethical way.

“We are extremely pleased to sign up to the Orange Partner Platform with Transatel for our UK MVNO operations. The ease of access to market which this opportunity represents is the first step in our growth strategy and we look forward to working with both Orange and Transatel as we move towards our UK launch,” Jon Lobb, MD at C Mobile, commented on the new announcement.
