Orange has recently added to its offering the newly launched Sony Ericsson W705. The mobile phone operator is the second to offer the Walkman handset, after it has been added to O2's offering. At the same time, we also learn that the number of tariffs and packages available for the music device are being doubled.

The new Sony Ericsson W705 is a mobile phone that comes with a design that to some might resemble two already existing SE models, namely the W910i and W880i. The sliding mechanism of the new handset seems to remind of the W910i, while the device resembles the W880i mobile phone when closed.

When it comes to the features and capabilities of the Sony Ericsson W705, one must admit that it outpaces previous Walkman handsets. For starters, it is the first in the series to include WiFi compatibility, which facilitates file downloading. At the same time, users are also able to connect to wireless networks while at home or outside.

The specification list of the W705 also includes a 262.144 color TFT display, a 3.15-megapixel photo snapper with flash, geo-tagging and video recording capabilities, as well as FM radio with RDS, 120 MB of internal memory, Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot with support for memory cards of up to 4 GB, and USB and Bluetooth connectivity. The music capabilities of the device include TrackID, Shake control, SenseMe, PlayNow, Clear bass and Clear stereo.

The Sony Ericsson W705 also brings Internet features, Organiser, entertainment features like WalkMate, YouTube, video streaming capabilities, and Java. The handset comes with quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G capabilities, being able to connect to UMTS/HSPA 900/2100, GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 networks. The device measures 95.0 x 48.0 x 14.3 mm and weighs 98.0 gr. Its battery can provide up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 350 hours of standby time on HSPA, as well as up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 400 hours of standby time on GSM.
