Today, Opera Software and computer maker Toshiba announced that the Opera Mobile browser has been selected to come pre-loaded on the Android-based tablet computer “Folio 100.”

According to the two companies, those who will purchase the tablet PC should have the possibility to choose to take advantage of what Opera Mobile has to offer, or they can just use the Android default browser, if they like to do so.

The Toshiba Folio 100 Android-based tablet PC is expected to become available for purchase in Europe, the Middle East and Africa starting with the fourth quarter of 2010.

“We are going to work continuously with Toshiba to keep improving the browser for tablet users,” says Lars Boilsen, CEO, Opera Software.

It seems that the duo worked closely to make a wide range of optimizations for the user interface of the solution, so as to make it compatible with the larger format of the tablet.

“Tablets are attracting a lot of attention all over the world, and the market has become highly competitive. Having high-speed Internet functionality on devices is the key to offering a great user experience,” the pair stated.

The Opera Mobile browser has been designed so as to offer a full desktop-browsing experience to users, and packs the same core architecture as in Opera’s desktop browser, though with a great deal of optimizations to fit the tablet PC.

It seems that Europe, the Middle East and Africa are the only markets that would benefit from the capabilities of Toshiba's Folio 100 device, at least this is what the computer maker announced.

The Android slate is based on a NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC, boasts a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, that can deliver a 1,024 x 600 pixel resolution and support for multitouch.

It also comes with 16GB of internal flash memory, a SD/MMC card reader with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options.
