The launch of the OnePlus 2 is still a few months away from us, but even so, we can be sure the Chinese company is actively working on it.

And while we wait for the product to be made official, OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau has already spilled the beans regarding the flagship’s price.

Lau has been discussing details related to the next-gen phone with fans on Weibo and he confirmed rumors claiming that the OnePlus 2 will take advantage of the Snapdragon 810 in the process, as reported by Giz China.

OnePlus jumping on board with the Snapdragon 810

Not the Snapdragon 810 again, you might think. The chipset seems to have been plagued by major over-heating issues from its inception, but some companies like Xiaomi have managed to find a workaround for the situation.

While Qualcomm keeps swearing the Snapdragon 810 doesn’t suffer from anything other than bad publicity, Xiaomi has taken the time to produce a revised Snapdragon 810 version for its Mi Note Pro phablet, which launched yesterday in China.

The silicone has been put through benchmarks and scored an impressive 63,424 points, which is more than devices like the HTC One M9 (57,648) or LG G Flex 2 (56,266), which come with the regular Snapdragon 810 version, managed to obtain.

Xiaomi has also mentioned that the Mi Note Pro is now able to maintain an operating temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius (97.3 F) in 20 minutes of gaming.

So, in theory, OnePlus could also implement a revised version of the Snapdragon 810 into its next flagship. The choice of launching a device running on this platform so late might seem puzzling to some, especially since Qualcomm might have outed the Snapdragon 820 by then.

But economically, the decision makes sense, as OnePlus is basically waiting for prices to drop in order to offer a high-end device at an affordable price.

OnePlus Two's price sounds reasonable

Speaking of prices, you might be curious to know that the OnePlus 2 will be launched boasting a price tag of approximately $403 / €355.

Other rumored specs would have us believe the OnePlus 2 will arrive with a 5.5-inch or 6-inch display with 2K resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), at least 3GB of RAM, and a “better than TouchID” fingerprint scanner.
