The saga of the pesky Snapdragon 810 doesn’t seem to be ending soon. Just yesterday, we told you that HTC had one of the worst months in the last 6 years in terms of sales, and the fiasco got blamed on the Snapdragon 810’s overheating issues, which apparently still plague the HTC One M9.

While Qualcomm has been swearing over and over again that it managed to solve the overheating problems, reports claiming this is not actually the case don’t seem to be dying down.

LG’s new flagship, the G4, isn't powered by the Snapdragon 810, but by the Snapdragon 808, and the decision apparently still had to do with the silicone piece getting very warm.

Which brings us to today’s matter: Xiaomi finally launched the Mi Note Pro model in China, months after the company officially introduced it, and it offers the device with a revised version of the Snapdragon 810.

The phone was the second to be announced with a Snapdragon 810 chip inside, after the LG G Flex 2, but it took Xiaomi quite a lot of time to actually make the device available in retail.

With news of the phablet’s launch, we are also told that Xiaomi is utilizing a revised version of Qualcomm’s pesky SoC, which is being referred to as v2.1 (as seen at G for Games).

The silicone piece has been put through benchmarks and scored an impressive 63,424 points, which is more than similar devices like the HTC One M9 (57,648) or LG G Flex 2 (56,266) managed to obtain. It also puts the phone in the same league as the Exynos 5720-touting Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

The performance increase is likely caused by an improved clock speed and better thermal management, meaning that the chipset doesn't throttle so much and can function at its full potential.

Xiaomi also revealed that the Mi Note Pro can maintain an operating temperature of 36.3 degrees Celsius (97.3 F) in 20 minutes of gaming.

Maybe future batches of HTC’s One M9 and LG’s G Flex 2 might also get the revised Snapdragon 810 treatment at some point in the future. One can only hope.

Anyway, the Mi Note Pro launches today with a 5.7-inch 2K display with 4GB of LPPDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage for $483 / €430.
