Once offered $15 million, she gets only $750,000 in the settlement

Initial reports had it that Mel Gibson offered his ex-girlfriend slash mother of his eighth baby $15 million to settle the case out of court. Oksana Grigorieva turned down the offer – and ended up getting only $750,000 in court.

The legal dispute between the former two lovers has been dragging on for many months and saw a few very tense moments, when audio leaked proving Mel had been abusing Oksana, at least verbally.

This is what probably prompted Oksana to assume she could get more money from her ex than the $15 million he offered to her, especially since he’s believed to be worth at least $900 million.

However, she would have been better off with the initial offer, TMZ notes, adding that Oksana only got a measly $750,000 at the end of the trial.

“At the time, Oksana said she would not go through with the settlement because she felt Mel was a danger to their daughter Lucia and believed Mel should not have unsupervised contact with the child,” the e-zine writes, explaining why Oksana turned down the initial offer.

As expected, the real reason she refused it was all about the money.

“In reality, sources connected to the case tell TMZ, the real reason Oksana walked away from the settlement is because she was advised she could get a lot more than $15 million because of the alleged physical abuse she claims she suffered at the hands of Mel,” TMZ says.

However, what the judge awarded her is a far cry from what Mel was willing to give to her just to avoid the trial.

“Now, in a shocking twist of fate, rather than getting $15 million, Oksana is only getting $750k. On top of that, she was concerned about Mel having unsupervised visitation... Mel is actually getting MORE unsupervised visitation based on the agreement that was just struck,” TMZ writes.

In other words, Oksana lost out on this, but at least her daughter Lucia will be well provided for, since Gibson is believed to have included her in the trust fund he has set up for his other 7 children.
