14 DAY TRIAL // Though she’s legally barred from speaking to the media about her life with Hollywood actor and director Mel Gibson until the domestic abuse case comes to a conclusion, Oksana Grigorieva has taped an interview with Larry King – as a spokesperson for all battered women.
Ever since she accused Gibson of being a bully and a violent partner in court, Oksana has not done any interview, and the judge’s warning that she could lose from her custody money if she does so may have helped.
For some reason or another, Grigorieva seems to have decided to go against the judge’s recommendations by taping an interview with Larry King, in which she speaks on behalf of all women victimized by their partners, TMZ has learned.
“Oksana Grigorieva has defied the judge in her custody war with Mel Gibson by taping an interview with Larry King Saturday night, TMZ has learned... and it’s Oksana’s opening salvo in ‘speaking out on behalf of battered women’,” TMZ reports.
According to the e-zine, the interview was initially meant to last about half an hour, but ended up lasting just a little under one hour. Oksana was accompanied by one of her attorneys while she took questions from Larry King.
The reason why she’s speaking out just now is not to get media attention – or make money from interviews – but because she feels she’s been silent on the issue of domestic abuse for far too long, TMZ writes.
“Sources connected with Oksana tell TMZ she did the interview because ‘she feels she’s been silent too long and feels bad for other battered women if she stays silent’,” TMZ reports.
“Sources tell TMZ Oksana is now working with a group called Peace Over Violence – an LA-based battered women’s group – and she’s planning a number of news conferences in the near future,” the same report informs.
During the Larry King interview, the question of the leaked tapes also pops up, with King even playing bits and pieces from them for Oksana.
She, however, refuses to attack Mel in any way, saying only that she believes he’s a “great father,” but a man who needs professional help for his rage issues, TMZ also says.
