Earlier this year, wireless carrier AT&T announced plans to release Palm's webOS-based Pre Plus and Pixi Plus smartphones on its airwaves, and recently unveiled additional details on the matter. According to the company's Facebook page, the Palm Pre Plus is set to become available for purchase for AT&T's customers come May 16, both via the carrier's website and at its retail locations.

Here's what the operator announced via its Facebook page: “Hey fans, device news coming your way! Palm Pre Plus hits retail stores and online starting 5/16 for $149.99 after contract and mail-in rebate. Also, for a limited time in AT&T retail stores only, customers who purchase a Palm Pre Plus will get a free Palm Touchstone Charging Dock. Additional details coming closer to 5/16, stay tuned!”

When officially announcing its plans to launch the webOS mobile phones from Palm, AT&T also unveiled the price tags for these handsets, including the fact that the Pre Plus will go for $149.99 on a contract, and that Pixi Plus will arrive with a cost of $49.99 on contract. However, specific details on the release date of the two phones lacked until now.

Although Palm was recently acquired by HP, it seems that the previous plans remain unaltered. Even if Pre and Pixi, along with their Plus versions, registered slow sales on the market, Palm is still committed to make them available for purchase via more carriers around the world. Initially launched in the US via Sprint, the Palm Pre is now available in a Plus version on the airwaves of Verizon Wireless too.

Some of the previous rumors on Pre Plus' launch at AT&T suggested that the device would arrive on May 16, and it seems that they proved true in the end. Moreover, it appears that the carrier also plans on making the 3G MicroCell available across the United States on May 16, so its users have yet another reason to rejoice. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
