Whitney Houston's last film, the one she'd been working on before starting to plan her music comeback prior to her sudden death in February this year, will open on August 10. Above is the first official trailer for it.

Footage from the film had made it out online before the trailer did, but failed to paint an accurate picture of what we're to expect from the plot.

Instead, it aimed to make it look as if Whitney would be playing one of the leads, which is not the case, as it becomes clear now.

The late diva plays the mother of three aspiring singers portrayed by Jordin Sparks, Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter, who want to make it big as part of a group not unlike the Supremes.

“Sparkle” also stars Derek Luke, Mike Epps and Cee-Lo Green, and is directed by Salim Akil.
