O2 UK has decided to provide a comment on the news regarding its losing the exclusivity deal on the iPhone. Starting with Monday, September 28, when Orange UK announced it would soon introduce the Apple iconic device into its offering, and continuing with today's announcement from Vodafone that it would make the same move, all eyes were on O2 so as to see how it would react.

“We’re proud that we’ve been able to offer an exclusive iPhone deal to our 20 million customers for the last two years. We always knew that iPhone exclusivity was for a limited period of time, but our relationship with Apple continues and will be an ongoing success. We have over 1 million iPhone customers and they remain very important to us,” is what the company briefly stated.

The carrier might have lost the exclusivity on the iPhone, yet there are a wide range of other smartphones that should soon become available for purchase on its airwaves. As many of you might already know, the recently launched Palm Pre is one such handset, which should reach O2's lineup as soon as October 16 is here.

“We aim to offer our customers the best devices on the market,” the mobile phone carrier stated, adding that it also offered “award-winning customer service and benefits, which is why more people choose O2 than any other network in the UK.” One thing that is sure here is that losing the iPhone exclusivity isn't the best thing for the carrier at the moment.

However, there will be other high-end handsets expected to make their appearance in O2's offering. Besides the aforementioned Palm Pre, O2 is also rumored to plan on nabbing the high-end HTC Leo, a Windows Mobile-based device that comes with Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset, and which should be included in a lineup that already sports such a device, the Toshiba TG01.
