The phone should come to O2 in the UK

Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is expected to soon announce the availability of a new handset powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, the HTC Leo. Already spotted in the news a few times before, the device can now be admired in a video, where details on its TouchFLO 3D 2.5 UI (Manila 2.5) are also available.

The upcoming device has been already reported to come to the market with a large touchscreen display, and it seems that the user interface it sports has been modified a little to specifically fit its capabilities. Some of the goodies it should deliver include animated wallpapers, or weather animations on the home screen, according to the weather outside.

The TouchFLO 3D 2.5 Build 1919 for HTC Leo looks quite attractive, especially since it also shows that HTC is already working on delivering Sense to its Windows Mobile-based devices, just as it promised a while ago. Take a look at the video attached to this article to learn more on what HTC Leo's UI might deliver to its users.

In the meantime, we should mention that the device is reportedly getting ready to be launched on O2 UK's airwaves. According to Engadget, the wireless carrier will have Leo available for its users for free on an 18-month contract, for a plan priced at £45 (about $72) a month. Mobile phone users in other markets won't be as lucky as those living in the UK, yet they should receive the phone in the near future too.

The upcoming presence of HTC Leo in O2's offering seems to be already nailed down, as the news site shows a picture of “some promotional material backing up earlier rumors that the HD2 / Leo is en route to O2 in the UK.” For what it's worth, the carrier is certainly trying to include as many high-end handsets in its lineup, so as to balance the lost exclusivity of the iPhone, so an official announcement should be the next thing to look out for.
