Almost sure now

It looks like Telefonica's O2 will be the main carrier for the iPhone in the UK this autumn. Apple has now managed to reach agreements with the main companies which will bring the iPhone in France, Germany and the UK.

The struggle to choose just the right carriers to bring the iPhone in Europe must have been a serious one, as Apple intends to reach huge sales numbers here too. Reports previous to the iPhone's launch stated that the device's sales numbers would have had chances of being even higher if they had managed to close a deal with a carrier other than AT&T.

Telefonica must have high expectations from Apple's phone, as they will invest almost 180 million stg in the UK. Amazon.co.uk has already posted the iPhone on the website as due for sale at the beginning of December, this year. Still, Apple promised to bring their handset for the European market too sometime sooner, in November.

At this time, Apple has managed to close deals to bring the iPhone only in two more countries. In France, Orange will be the main carrier for the handset, whereas T-Mobile is the main company thought to bring it to Germany.

The reason for this information still being rather uncertain is that neither Apple, nor the European telecom service providers have confirmed the rumors. O2 has made some time ago a comment on the possibility of being the main carrier for the iPhone in the UK neither confirming it, nor denying such a fact.

Moreover, Apple has only mentioned the fact that they will launch their handset in Europe starting with the 1st of November, this year. At this date, only the UK, Germany and France will have the chance of enjoying the iPhone. Other countries will receive it at the beginning of year 2008, when the mobile phone is set for a release in Asia too.
