Today, wireless carrier O2 announced that it was getting ready to roll-out new mobile data plans for its users. According to the company, the new options will be put in place starting with June 24, and should be available both for new and upgrading mobile customers. Moreover, the carrier notes that the new plans are meant to offer a more transparent pricing model, which is being tied to usage.

“We know that customers are looking for clarity in pricing as too many offers have clauses and catches which are not easy to understand. With the wide range of Internet based services now available on mobile devices we’re providing customers with generous clear data bundles that give customers freedom. This enables us to provide a better overall experience for the vast majority of customers and to better manage demand,” O2 CEO Ronan Dunne commented.

The wireless carrier notes that the current usage patterns show that 97 percent of its customers owning a smartphone do not need buying additional data allowances, considering the fact that the lowest available bundle, which is of 500MB, delivers around 2.5 times more data than the average O2 customer’s current use. Starting with June 24, O2 will put in place three inclusive data bundles for its customers, which can be seen in the shot attached to this article.

At the same time, the company also revealed that both new and upgrading customers would receive unlimited data until October 1, on a promotional basis. Starting with that date, users will have the option to purchase additional data Bolt Ons which include 500MB for £5 or 1GB for £10. The wireless carrier also commits to offering easy monitoring of usage via sending regular text messages to users.

According to the company, all O2 customers will still benefit from unlimited Wi-Fi connectivity via The Cloud and BT Openzone hotspots. “Existing customers will continue under their present terms, unlimited data usage with an Excessive Use Policy,” the carrier continued. “By doing this, we are laying the foundation for a sustainable data experience for all customers and the huge possibilities that technology will create over the coming years,” Ronan Dunne added.
